August 2021 – Second Annual Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt Promo Banner

Set at 12 businesses through the Argyle area, the BIA had people out hunting for jokes. It was our second summer dealing with the COVID pandemic and even with the vaccine making the public safer, we still had event concerns with the delta variant around. So, as we did last year, we put as much thought into keeping this event as safe as it was fun. People were to go to any or all of the businesses on the Scavenger Hunt map and take a selfie with the joke posted there with the hopes that people would get a chuckle and better acquainted with the myriad kinds of businesses we have in the area. For each location they took a picture with, a ballot was entered into a draw to win one of the 5 gift baskets we put together showcasing our businesses, each worth $150!

December 2020 – Letters to Santa

Due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold our annual Santa Claus Parade. In light of this, we wanted to find another way to give the Argyle kids some way to see Santa and what we came up with was a virtual meet and greet. We had kids send along their letters to Santa before the event and then had Santa read them out. Some lucky kids even got a phone call from Saint Nick, himself. We had such a great turnout that we plan on keeping this event on-going.

December 2020 – Window Decorating Contest

For the holiday season in 2020, we at the BIA wanted to encourage as many businesses as possible to take part in decorating the Argyle area and making it festive so we offered fifteen $75 decoration reimbursement opportunities for BIA members in tandem with our Holiday Window Display Contest to showcase their creative chops. We had people vote for their favourites on the Argyle Facebook page and the winners received a boosted post to advertise their fantastic displays.

November 2020 – 12 Days of Santa

Similar to our Scavenger Hunt, we had photos of Santa placed in the windows of 12 businesses in the Argyle area and for every picture you took with Santa, you were entered into a draw for 12 local gift baskets, each worth $75! Even with the winter weather, we had a great turnout and got some people into the holiday mood.
